Volunteer Opportunity Descriptions

Volunteering: I realize that VHE is a cooperative support group and agree to be an active member through regular attendance and volunteering to plan activities. Many events are contingent upon the volunteer commitment of our members. As a member of VHE, I will help with at least one event or activity during the 2024-25 school year.

Please select 3 items from the volunteer opportunities list below. You will only be assigned to help with ONE of your choices. 

Descriptions of Volunteer Opportunities

Team Volunteer Options (collaborative planning opportunities)

Field Day Team - Help plan an outdoor family event in which kids of all ages compete against each other for prizes. Obstacle courses, 3-legged race, water balloon toss, and many other typical and not-so-typical field day type games will be held in May 2025 at a local park. Potluck style dinner concludes the evening.

Activities and Field Trip Team - Set up at least one activity, social event, or field trip for students/families. 

Funky's Skate Day Team - Collect money and handle registration at the VHE Skate Days held on a Friday afternoon in November, January, and March. Ideal for parents of independent skaters so that you can remain at the registration table. There will be a board member present.

Graduation Hospitality Team - If you have a high school student (not a senior), this would be an excellent place to volunteer. Specific needs are for people to serve refreshments, hand out programs, and some minor set up at the reception. Graduation will be held in May 2025.

Graduation Participant/Parent Team - If you have a homeschooling senior and would like to participate in the VHE 2025 Graduation ceremony, this is the place for you! Parents of graduates work together to plan the graduation ceremony and meet several times throughout the year to do this. The seniors also plan social events specific to them. For the sake of planning, graduation participants will not be accepted after January 1, 2025. 

Kick-off Picnic Team - This event starts off the VHE school year with a bang in August! Volunteers will help plan, set up, and clean up this event, usually held at a local park. 

Moms’ Brunch Team - If you are passionate about bringing homeschool moms together, this volunteer position is for you! 

Point Person Volunteer Options (independent planning opportunities)

Clip ‘n’ Climb Point Person - Sept/Oct - Set up a date and time, and a board member will help you add it to the VHE calendar.

Game Night Point Person - Jan/Feb/March - Set up a date and time, and a board member will help you add it to the VHE calendar.

Ice Skating Days Point Person - Jan/Feb - Set up a date and time, and a board member will help you add it to the VHE calendar.

Jump Park Point Person - Oct/Dec/April/May - Set up a date and time, and a board member will help you add it to the VHE calendar.

Moms’ Activity Night Point Person - Set up at least one activity or social event for moms only. 

Retirement Community Outreach Point Person - Jan/Feb - Singing, making cards and pictures, and/or playing games at a Retirement Community with ice cream afterwards. Set up a date and time, and a board member will help you add it to the VHE calendar.

Westover Winter Pool Day Point Person - Set up a date and time, and a board member will help you add it to the VHE calendar.

Other/Plan my own event- Choose this only if you have an idea for a VHE event that YOU WOULD BE WILLING TO PLAN.Create an event centered around your particular interests, gifts, or work. A board member can assist you in developing your idea and will work with you to get the event added to the calendar. Please mention your idea in the comments section.
